Almost one week in India!

Hey friends and family!

I thought I'd make a blog so I could keep people updated and share some of my experiences and pictures from my time in India! Tomorrow it will be a week since I started my journey to Woodstock School in Mussoorie, India. I came to Woodstock for my senior year along with five other abroad students through a program called SAGE (Studies Abroad for Global Education). It has been a bit of a shock coming to a foreign country for high school and there have been countless things I was unprepared for. Although,
this first week has been filled with homesickness and adjustment, it has also been a time of great learning and fun! Students at Woodstock come from countless countries, and the amount of accents one can hear just walking around the high school or traveling down to the bazaar is amazing! The beauty surrounding Woodstock is also incredible. The school is set in quite steep hills (they feel more like mountains to me haha) right before the Himalayas. I had no idea in coming here how incredibly steep it was going to be, I was in for a big suprise! I'm still getting used to the twenty minute rigorous walk to school every morning, hopefully it will get easier as time goes on. Also along this walk I have learned how scary monkeys can be. Back home in Chicago when I was younger I dreamt of owning a monkey and my sister Eliza has requested that I send her a monkey from Woodstock. I am not so sure she would want me to now, because although they are small and deceivingly cute, monkeys can be vicious and scary creatures! I have learned though that they are quite scared of opened rainbow colored umbrellas! Through out the year I hope to be able to use this blog to share more experiences with those of you back home! Alright that's it for now, hopefully I'll be writing soon again!
